  • COOL FACT

Rosemary used to be known as a love charm. During the Middle Ages, it was said that if a person tapped another with a sprig of rosemary that was in bloom, they would fall in love. Brides would also wear rosemary in their headpieces and the groom and guests would also wear a sprig. The newlyweds then planted rosemary on their wedding day in the hopes that it would be a good omen for their future!

Components

Time to talk chemistry! We’re drawn to Pure Rosemary because this oil contains components (you may have also heard them called “constituents”) that work together to affect our body in unique ways. Let’s break it down:

  • 1,8-CINEOLE (EUCALYPTOL)

This is the dominant component within rosemary. We love it because it has an herbal eucalyptus aroma that makes it a refreshing choice for home diffusers and humidifiers.

  • B-CARYOPHYLLENE

This one has staying power on the skin! Its woody and earthy aroma provides a mild and pleasant aroma that lasts all day.

  • ALPHA-PINENE

With a fresh, woody, and pine-like aroma.

  • CAMPHOR

Features a vaporous aroma that helps freshen and enliven the senses.

Rosemary’s Backstory

Native to the sea cliffs of the Mediterranean, rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub This fragrant herb was considered sacred by ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Hebrews, and Romans, who used it in romantic ceremonies such as weddings. The Greeks wore rosemary garlands around their heads and the Romans used it in almost all festivals and religious ceremonies.

Rosemary was also an ingredient in “Four Thieves Vinegar,” a concoction that was infused with herbs and spices and used by grave robbers. A symbol of remembrance, rosemary was also tossed into graves as a promise that loved ones who passed away would not be forgotten.

Today, rosemary oil’s herbaceous and energizing scent is most often used in cooking, skincare and haircare.
